Providing Care, Food and Protection for Rescued Cows
Cow protection is not only a cultural responsibility but also an important aspect of animal welfare and environmental balance. At SANGAMPUR GAUSHALA FOUNDATION, our work focuses on rescuing cows that have been abandoned, injured or left without proper care. Once rescued, these animals require immediate attention, safe shelter and consistent feeding to recover and live healthy lives.
The gaushala located at DATTAWADI, HN/61 Sanguem, Sanguem, South Goa – 403704, Goa, India serves as a refuge for cows that have nowhere else to go. Many of the cows that arrive at the shelter are weak, undernourished or suffering from injuries caused by accidents or neglect. Providing them with proper nutrition and care is the first step toward restoring their health.
Daily feeding is one of the most essential responsibilities of a gaushala. Fresh green fodder, dry fodder and clean drinking water are provided to ensure balanced nutrition. Adequate nutrition helps cows regain strength and improves their immunity against diseases. Volunteers and caretakers carefully monitor feeding routines so that each animal receives sufficient food.
In addition to feeding, the health of the cows is closely monitored. Injured or sick animals receive veterinary attention and necessary treatment. Regular observation helps identify health issues early, allowing timely medical support. Clean shelter spaces and hygienic surroundings also reduce the risk of infections and help maintain overall well-being.
The role of volunteers and supporters is extremely important in maintaining these welfare activities. From feeding cows to cleaning shelter areas and assisting with rescue efforts, every contribution helps improve the lives of these animals. Community support ensures that rescued cows continue to receive proper care and attention.
Cow welfare also contributes to environmental sustainability. Gaushalas help protect indigenous cattle breeds, promote organic farming through cow-based products and encourage compassionate treatment of animals. These practices create a balanced relationship between humans, animals and nature.
At SANGAMPUR GAUSHALA FOUNDATION, we believe that protecting cows is a service rooted in compassion and responsibility. Every rescued cow represents a life that has been given another chance to live safely.
With continued support from donors, volunteers and well-wishers, we aim to expand our welfare activities and provide better care for more cows in need. Our mission remains clear: to protect, nurture and serve these animals with dedication and respect.
